As the new year begins one important area of my life is to seek out places and schedule time for solo retreats. Our lives can get full and the tensions can become heavy and tiring so what can help us rest, release and refresh?
Jesus. Yes. He helps us by showing His way of living in Luke 22:39-40, Smith writes:
“Luke is clear in how he shows us the rhythm of Jesus’ life: “As the sun was setting.” “At daybreak.” “Often withdrew.” “Spent the night.” “Listen.” “Certain place.” “Each day.” “As usual.”
These are the words that describe the rhythm of Jesus’ life.”
May you give yourself the permission that Jesus gave himself to go to a secluded place and spend time with the Father.
JUST OFF THE PRESS: Every Step a Monument by Michelle Marie Sharp
I ordered and received my copy through blurb this past month and sat with curiosity and wonder; pondering the art and message of Michelle’s work. She writes
“This is a story for those who are awakening to the world”
“It is a story of coming alive to the emotions that allow us to engage the word and embracing the talk of living with them, letting them grow, and sharing them with others.”
As I sat in my living room, reading slowly and gazing at her imagery of life and emotions—there is a connection (of many) Michelle fluidly and refreshingly captures; we all are in the midst of living, of “being” in this world with our interior and our exterior living.
