Welcome. Michelle Marie Sharp is an artist-in-residence at Faith Community Church in Prague, Czech Republic. She studied Studio Art at University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Her personal art is self-reflective in nature but she hopes to help others enter into the more spiritual, life-giving aspects of art that help us cultivate self-understanding so that we can understand our place in the world more and more and help others do the same. She illustrates for the podcast, Guided Prayer Podcast, and creates art based on sermon topics, ancient prayers and scriptures for Faith Community.

She hopes to print and publish her own book soon. You can support Michelle by checking out here website, purchasing her art, and listening to her podcast: michellemariesharp.com

Five Things

Life is happening all around, most of the time my inspiration radar is on high alert, but it is always turned outward. Most of the time, I cannot identify the feelings I feel and associate them with the experiences of everyday life and later find myself surprisingly sad or unexpectedly joyful.

Daily Presence/Awareness Sketches

by Michelle Marie Sharp

Often words are hard and tiresome when I am already weary, so creating small, sometimes really simple, goofy sketches to reflect on my day is easier. Sometimes it is really hard. But I think it is always good. It helps keep my eyes open to the world around me, but also aware of the things that cause me to do a double-take or the things that cause my heart to come alive.

For some people, myself included, identifying passions and loves is really difficult. Keeping a journal with five things a day that stuck out to me or inspired me helps create a focus about what is important in my life and when I am perhaps not engaging in life but disengaging and going full hermit. It started out as a visual gratitude journal, but has evolved into a dual purpose tool: a tool for self-listening as well as gratitude for the hard and good times.

If you want to join me on this visual journaling process, or want to simply make a list of five things everyday, instead of drawing them, let me know.

On my instagram I will be making some posts about these and would love to see how others take the idea of visual self-listening and gratitude and re-interpret it for their own lives and practices.
